SCOTT MOUNTAIN CAMPGROUND
North on Highway 3 is Scott Mountain
Summit and Scott Mountain Campground.
A nice area with good people. There are
custom built masonry firepits, picnic
tables, and outhouse. Must be designed
as a tent site, because there are limited
places to park on level surfaces. We love
to stop here and make a pot of coffee

California requires you to have a fire permit.
Just go into any Forest Service Office and
it is a very simple procedure, just your name
and address. It is free and is valid anywhere
in California. You still have to know what
fire restrictions are in effect. There are very
few places that allow campfires or charcoal.

BIGFOOT ON HIGHWAY 96
We saw what looked like a "Bigfoot".
Came around a curve on road and
about a 100 yards down the embankment,
was a something large crossing the river.
It could have been a bear, but was in an
upright position, leaping from boulder to
boulder, like stepping stones. It could of
been a person, but the boulders were kind
of far apart... who knows, only had a couple
seconds glimpse before it disappeared into
forest.(August 2006)
