This area is called "The Banana Belt",
it almost never snows in this area. It
is the middle of November and seems
like a spring day, the skies are clear and blue.

Primitive campsite with picnic table and
metal firering. Called "Fourth of July Camp"
because this is where the kids party on July 4th
Update: Somebody burned the picnic table
and generally trashed the place.

There are several camp spots along Road#1108.
This is a single lane road following along the river,
as it flows through moss covered forest.

If you take Road#1107 it connects to Road#1376.
Take a right turn to Packers Cabin

DIRECTIONS:
From Brookings take Hwy.101 south
(3/4 mile north from the California boarder)
Turn towards Oregon Redwoods Trail and
Winchuck Campground. Follow this road
for about 8 miles and you will see the sign
for Ludlum House Recreation Area and
Ludlum Campground. This is Road#1108
and there are several camps and hideouts.
Ludlum House is xx miles
Fourth of July Primitive camp is 2.9 miles

It is cool, crisp, and perfect...

Showers at Alfred A. Loeb State Park.

Located on the beach with big parking area and
bathrooms.

When in the area it is recommended to visit:
JEDEDIAH SMITH REDWOODS STATE PARK
and HOWLAND HILL SCENIC DRIVE
(About 10 miles south from the Oregon Boarder)
Highly recommended to drive Howland Hill Scenic
Drive through Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park.
Motor homes and trailers not recommended. No fees.
From Highway 199 near Hiouchi Information Center,
take South Fork Road about a mile and stay right
when the road splits. Road signs marking the way.
