There is an underground river. It looks
like a dry river bed, but some areas you
will see pools of water and close inspection
reveals it is actually flowing.

Deer walked through the campground.
Lots of birds, especially along the river.
Don't be surprised if you see mosquitoes.

We know several stories of people getting
robbed. Clothes, sleeping bags, they steal
everything including your tent. It is sad
to say, but don't leave your camp unattended.

Traffic is getting heavy on this road.
We remember when motorcycles ruled
the road, but now too many cars.

It is common to see speed traps.

There have been some wild characters
out here. The last time we ran into a hillbilly
that had been searching for the Lost Dutch
Mine a total of 20 years. He accused me of
invading his camp, so I twisted a number
and cranked the
Sea Monster version of
"Little Red Riding Hood" on the stereo
and he broke out in dance exclaiming
I was his angel with hoots and hollers
filling the night air.
