MOBIUS ARCH
Mobius Arch is one of the most photographed
arch in the Alabama Hills. You should be able
to find this arch without too much difficulty.
In this same area are other interesting arches.

area, but it really blends into the background
from this angle and difficult to actually notice it.

In recent years the trail has been lined with rocks,
making it easier to locate Mobius Arch.

DIRECTIONS:
From Lone Pine, CA / Hwy.395
(At the only stop light in town)
Turn west on Whitney Portal Road
In 2 1/2 miles turn on Movie Road
Take Movie Flat Road 1 1/2 mile
Stay right at the Y in the road
Park at the first pull-out on the left
(You can see the Heart Arch)
Walk northwest down into the wash
There is a marked trail lined with rocks.
Mobius Arch is north about 100 yards

Trail towards Mobius Arch
From the Heart Arch Parking Area, follow this
trail across the wash and then walk north.

ROAD CONDITIONS
Whitney Portal Road is paved.
Movie Flat Road is a maintained
dirt surface with washboards.

BEST PHOTOS:

Lone Pine Peak are prominent in the back-

Because of it's low profile it goes unnoticed, but
at the right angles can produce some great photos.

There are hundreds of natural arches throughout
Alabama Hills Recreation Area.
The best way to
find arches is by walking around the rock formations.
The arches blend in with the surrounding rocks.

Alabama Hills Recreation Area

Alabama Hills were named in the 1860's during
the Civil War by Southern sympathizers in honor
of the Confederate warship CSS Alabama. The
Alabama Hills Recreation Area was dedicated
in 1969 by Bureau of Land Management and
encompasses almost 30,000 acres.
