Decent campground.
There was a picnic table and firering. The road
continued, but the melting snow had turned it
to mud. Next time... Elevation 7100'

QUAKER MEADOW CAMP
Drove about a mile and the road was gated.
ROAD 22S82 / LOWER PEPPERMINT C.G.
West from Johnsondale is Road 22S82(to the right).
This road takes you 23 miles through scenic
wilderness areas. Driving towards the base of
Needle Rocks are some spectacular photo
opportunities. There are numbered camp
areas along the way. Lower Peppermint
Campground is 11 miles and is a fee area.

Highway 190
DIRECTIONS:
From Bakersfield take Hwy 65 to Ducor
Take Road J22 To California Hot Springs
Continue towards Johnsondale taking the
turn toward Camp Nelson.
From Visalia take Hwy 65 south to Porterville
Take Hwy 190 east towards Springerville.
Continue past Springerville to Camp Nelson.
From Hwy 99 at Earlimart, turn east on Hwy 190
Passing Porterville and Springerville
Continue past Camp Nelson
If you examine a map, there are several back
roads
and different directions you could take. Almost all
roads in the Sierra Nevada Mountains are narrow
and winding, with steep upgrades.

There was a BEAR yesterday on Highway 198
near the north entrance of Sequoia National Park.
He was just playing around, kind of bouncing up
and down on a fallen tree. No photos because' we stayed
in the car.
