Dispersed and Primitive Camping

Scaddan Wash is on the S.E. edge of Quartzsite
city limits. The first 3 miles of road is paved and
follows along side of I-10. Then the road turns to
dirt surface and continues about 4 miles south.
There are primitive camping areas everywhere
along side of the road.

Scaddan Wash Campfire
Primitive camp with firering

There will be what seems like a million RV's
during the winter months. Actually it is officially
estimated in the tens of thousands. When camping
in this area during the summer you might not
see another person.

Circles surrounded with quartz
There were several lined paths leading
to circles surrounded with quartz.

U.S. Bureau of Behavioral Corrections
Considering the barren aspect of the desert
it is not recommended to build any firerings.
Enjoy a pristine campfire free of walls of
rock. Stone firerings are frowned upon by
BLM and the Forest Service.
