KETCHEL DANGEROUSLY
WOUNDED IN A QUARREL

Middleweight Prizefighter Shot Through
Lung on  Ranch in Missouri - Assailant
Sought by Posse

_ Springfield, Mo., Oct.15 - Stanley Ketchel, middleweight champion pugilist of the world, is believed to have been dangerously, if not fatally, wounded in a quarrel with a man named Hurd at the ranch of R. P. Dickerson, near Conway, Mo., early today. A bullet from a revolver in the hands of Hurd entered Ketchel's right lung. A posse of farmers, with whom Ketchel is popular, has been organized and are scouring the countryside for the fighter's assailant.
_
Upon receipt of the news, Dickerson, who lives here, chartered a special train and, with several doctors to attend the fighter and two bloodhounds to assist in the man-hunt, left here at 9:30 for Conway.
_ Details of the shooting are meager, and nothing except that it took place following a quarrel has been learned.
_
Ketchel has been the guest of Dickerson here for several weeks and recently assumed the office of president of a big lumber company which Dickerson is financing. For the last week he has been at the Dickerson ranch hunting and fishing.
